Just a quick update…I hopped on a last minute flight back to NJ last weekend and spent by b-day weekend with my one and only ;) .  We headed into the city mid-afternoon and booked a reservation, on our drive in, at BLT Fish; a great place to have some fresh seafood and wild king salmon with impeccable service .  After dinner, walking thru Union Square,  we noticed a show about to start at the Union Square Theatre in a half hour.  Without hesitation, we grabbed 2 tickets to see Traces. What an unbelievable new Off-Broadway show! It was right up our alley and incorporated everything from great feats of strength, gymnastics, dance, to acrobatics with skateboards, basketballs and other props in which the artists filled the stage with so much dynamic energy.  The stories and talents of each artist are real and absolutely amazing…pretty much my favorite show of all time!  After the show we headed over to one of our other spots for dessert at Pure Food and Wine.  I had my usual mint sundae, which is not on the menu, so if you go just ask for it …continue reading.

If you are in the LA area this weekend and looking for something to do…
Saturday, September 17 & Sunday, September 18

Since I LOVE to cook, eat and shop locally for our food, this is right up my alley.  Hopefully I’ll be able to pick up a few tips, tricks and maybe even a new cookbook along the way ;) .

There will be two fun-filled days this weekend to experience the Good Food Festival with chef demos from LA’s finest restaurants, guest speakers, workshops, a Localicious Gala and street fair for all ages!  The festivities will start at Santa Monica High School and will feature family farmers, crafty food producers and chefs.  You will be able to enjoy street food from the same vendors you find at the Santa Monica farmers market, browse the food-focused bookstore and purchase green products from any food vendor on site.  In addition, there will be workshops on gardening where you can learn how to grow your own produce from a variety of experts who will demonstrate all you need to know about garden basics.  And finally, there will be Chefs at Play which will feature… …continue reading.

We’ve been working and training real hard since our move to Cali so we thought it was time for a little break ;) .  After the Memorial Day weekend, to kick off the unofficial start of summer, Jay and I decided to take a last minute road trip to Vegas for a few days.  I haven’t been there in a very long time so it was awesome to experience it again, but this time, we decided to drive in.  I have to admit, it was a little terrifying as we drove through the mountains; we passed several “falling rock” warning signs and drove through the most desolate places on earth, Sand and Death Valley.  To help us along the way, we listened to nothing but Pearl Jam radio and four hours later, we  reached our final destination, Las Vegas, NV.

We had no plans for our first night there so we came to a decision to check out the Palazzo casino and then head out for dinner.   We don’t really gamble but I guess you can say we were pretty lucky or just at the right place at the right time ;) . We were randomly approached by a… …continue reading.

I have recently received a lot of questions about how I eat, my diet and how I incorporate it all into my lifestyle.  In a nutshell, I follow an intermittent fasting and an all natural, organic, high protein, low carb diet, lots of fruits and vegetables using carb cycling during the week and drink lots of water.  This means real, whole, organic foods that you could pick, grow or kill (grass fed beef, free range, organic chicken and eggs, wild caught fish, nuts, seeds, and organic fruits and vegetables).  I also avoid all processed foods, fake foods, food additives, and agricultural chemicals at all cost. I always buy the highest quality foods and never bargain shop for what I put in my body.

For as long as I can remember I always followed an intermittent fasting diet due to my active lifestyle growing up.  My Mom always made dinner late (like 9pm) because that is when my brothers and I were all finished for the day.  My next meal would never be until lunch time the next day (again made by my Mom :) ) because I wasn’t hungry first thing in the morning.  I never… …continue reading.
